A Hybrid Analytic Hierarchy Process and Likert Scale Approach for the Quality Assessment of Medical Education Programs

The quality assessment of training courses is utmost importance in the medical education field to improve training. This work proposes a hybrid multicriteria decision-making approach based on two methodologies, Likert scale (LS) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP), for programs. On one hand, qualitative LS method was adopted estimate degree consensus specific topics; other quantitative AHP technique employed prioritize parameters involved complex problems. validated real scenario evaluating healthcare activities carried out at Centre Biotechnology National Hospital A.O.R.N. “A. Cardarelli” Naples (Italy). rational combination methodologies proved be promising tool decision makers identify those aspects program characterized by lower user satisfaction (revealed LS) higher priority AHP), potentially suggesting strategies increase service provided reduce waste resources. results show how this can provide with helpful information select most important characteristics delivered possibly weakest ones, thus enhancing whole courses.
